Behind Blackacre...
Personal journey's
A team that care
Whether a bank manager, green grocer or seamstress - there was a time when you could simply pick up the phone and speak to someone that you knew, understood what you needed, and could genuinely help...
It may seem a little old-fashioned, but we believe that's exactly how it should be. Some things are too important to be handed from one department to another. Creating jewellery is one of them. That means no sales teams, no call centres and no layers of management. When you contact us, you'll speak directly with one of the experts who designs, sources and creates our jewellery.
From your first conversation through to the finished piece, we're here to guide you with honest advice, expert knowledge and genuine enthusiasm. We believe the journey should feel just as special as the jewellery itself.

We'll let the team introduce themselves below...
In detail
Team Biographies and creations
We are immensely proud of the team we have built, each person brings their own expertise yet we all share the same vision. A desire to bring joy, and tell stories, through the creation meaningful jewellery that is cherished forever.
Founder & Creative Director
Sam
Although his passion for jewellery began at the age of 12, Sam could never have imagined it would one day lead to him founding and running an award-winning bespoke jewellery brand. Still driven by the same creativity that first inspired him, he leads the design of Blackacre's bespoke pieces and new collections.
"What brings me the greatest joy is creating meaningful pieces of jewellery around beautiful diamonds and gemstones that I know people will cherish forever. The close and personal relationship that we build with each client is something very special."
Sam - Blackacre Founder & Creative Director
GIA & Gem-A Qualified Gemmologist
Laura
Life at Blackacre hasn't always been as exotic...when Laura first joined Blackacre, meetings were held in cafe's or hotels, workspaces changed daily and Sam was working two jobs. Laura knows what it is like to put in the hard graft and it has been more than worth it - she's travelled the world on sourcing expeditions and worked on some remarkable pieces of jewellery. What the team and clients all comment on is her generosity in the time she will give to each person.
Laura especially loves working with old cut stones, favouring their unique personality as the perfect companion to a bespoke piece. Fair warning, you will likely be stuck for hours if you bring up the topics of running, surfing or restaurants.
"When a client places their trust in us to create a piece for them, it's a huge honour to be able to turn their ideas into a reality. Jewellery always holds a significant meaning to the person wearing it or gifting it, to be able to be involved in that never gets old."
Laura - Head Gemmologist
Gem-A Qualified Gemmologist
Henrietta
Having trained at Gem-A London and with a lifelong affinity to jewellery Henrietta is perfectly positioned to create beautiful jewellery. Bridging the gap between diamond and gemstone expertise, jewellery design and goldsmithing - if it is physically possible to do she will find a way (and my word she is efficient).
She has a keen eye for detail, quality-controlling every Blackacre piece before it leaves the studio. With a soft spot for rings with larger stones and asscher-cut diamonds she patiently awaits a dream 5ct target ring commission. She's also the reason the office plants are still alive.
"Creating beautiful jewellery is about so much more than the finished piece. I love getting to know each client, understanding who they are, and transforming their ideas, style and personality into something they'll treasure for a lifetime."

GIA & Gem-A Qualified Gemmologist
Minnie
Leaving her flourishing city career in search of something more meaningful, Minnie decided to follow her passion, training as a Gemmologist, emulating her Great Grandfather as a jeweller. After completing her GIA Diamonds and Gem-A Gemmology qualifications she joined Blackacre, where she couldn't be more at home.
Her hardworking ethos is infectious and won't let anything get in the way of creating something that is perfect - evidenced by the bottle of wine she was gifted by a client recently.
The way to Minnie's heart is sapphires, favouring cornflower-blue shades and the larger the better. She is patiently waiting to be sent to Botswana in search of diamonds, a country in which she used to lead horse back safaris.
"It is incredibly special to be able to combine something I truly love, working with gemstones every day, with meeting people during some of the happiest moments of their lives."

Jewellery Design & Operations
Elsa
With a degree in jewellery design, Elsa brings a rich experience to the team and is the glue holding things together day to day. Most likely to be one of the first to arrive she sets things off on the right path each day. Having previously worked for an independent international jeweller she thrives on an endless list of "To do's" with a positive can do attitude where no task is too great.
From curating stones for client consultations, international logistics and ensuring production stays on track, Elsa keeps the train moving. She is also Blackacre's unofficial hand model.
"What I love most about my job is watching a loose stone transform into a beautiful piece of jewellery. Every client sees something different in a stone and I enjoy being part of the journey turning that loose stone into a one of a kind creation that is completely unique to them".
Elsa - Team Co-Ordinator
Sourcing Expeditions
Follow the team on adventures to the source
We have travelled to, and documented, some amazing places in search of precious gemstones. Our expertise is formed by real world experiences, travelling to exotic destinations and working with our hands.

Visiting the regions of Muzo & Chivor, the home to some of the highest quality emeralds in the world, our team documented their journey through the Colombian jungle. From visiting the mines to the cutting houses in Bogota our documentary provides an insight in to the creation of a piece of jewellery. Specifically, the making of our Origins Collection.
The Sri Lanka Expedition
Exploring Sri Lanka to document the journey of sapphires, shining a light on the sustainable mining practices adopted by local communities. From the gem fields of Ratnapura to the markets of Berewula our team experienced the sights and sounds first hand.
